What do I need ?
Food - Life’s Abundance / Royal Canin Kitten
We recommend Life Abundance or Royal Canin Kitten dry and wet food. Both are great diets. Your kitten will be eating Life’s Abundance when they are scheduled to come home. We will provide a small bag upon delivery.
Life’s Abundance makes smaller batches of food and therefore does not need as many preservatives. They also conveniently ship the food right to your door, usually within 1 day of ordering. Royal Canin is found online at Chewy and/or in specialty pet stores. You will not be able to find it in the grocery stores.
We respect your choice to change their diet, especially if you have other kitties at home eating a different brand. We only ask that you gradually change their diet over 5 to 7 days. That looks like adding 1/4 or less of their meal being the new diet and gradually adding more and more each day slowly until you are only feeding the desired diet. Feel free to contact Dr. Heather if you experience any loose stool during the diet change.
Order for the first year of life. If suggested by your vet and/or if your kitten starts gaining weight after being spayed / neutered you can consider the Royal Canin Spayed / Neutered Diet (listed below).
Order after your kitten is spayed or neutered. You can transition to an adult diet at ~ one year old.
robot Litter Box
There are many types of litter boxes. We have found that the best automatic Littler box is Famree Smart Self-Cleaning Cat Litter box. Many times, you can find a $50+ off coupon to save money. Anytime it is under $400 with a coupon, it is a good deal. Why scoop when you can have a robot do it! We have been using litter robots for many years and more recently this more budget friendly model and it has not disappointed us. Hands down, they are worth the money and you will find that you do not need to buy as much kitty litter. Just think, within 3 minutes that stinky poo gets deposited into a smell proof container that all you have to do later is close the trash bag and throw away. You will not regret it.
